The Honda CR-V is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a television debut during the Super Bowl LI on Sunday, February 5, 2017. More than 100 million viewers will get a closer look at the newest edition of America’s best-selling SUV.
Previous Honda Super Bowl Appearances
This year will mark the third time Honda has promoted the CR-V during the Super Bowl with previous appearances featuring the 2007 and 2012 year models. The 2012 Honda CR-V made its most iconic appearance during the Super Bowl paying homage to a well-known coming-of-age character in “Matthew’s Day Off.” For Super Bowl 50, Honda debuted the redesigned 2017 Ridgeline pickup to Queen’s iconic “Somebody to Love,” and became a major success. Honda expects the introduction of the 2017 CR-V to be just at successful for the 2017 Super Bowl.
“The Super Bowl is the appropriate stage to introduce America to the bold and sophisticated new Honda CR-V,” said Susie Rossick, Assistant Vice President, Honda Auto Marketing. “With the largest audience and reach of any single television event, the Super Bowl is a platform befitting the CR-V’s status as the best-selling SUV in America, and the perfect place to celebrate CR-V’s 20th anniversary.”
Honda isn’t giving away any spoilers for the 2017 CR-V debut. We will just have to wait and see what they came up with.
